The City of Plzeň decided to improve the untenable traffic situation, in particular to relieve the city centre, by the construction of an inner urban ring. The Doudlevecká - Mikulášská section, comprising the street U Trati, (Section II), runs parallelly with the railway track and has required the construction of a new bridge across the Radbuza River and of an interchange with the MikuIášská Avenue.
The four-lane urban collector road follows the U Trati street (crossing the preceding Section I) from Doudlevecká Street towards the bridge on top of which it divides into two parts. The main route, comprizing the two internal lanes, proceeds on the rising viaduct above an integrated building, crossing the Mikulášská Street above grade. This route terminates at the crossing and links up with Železniční Street.
The other part, comprising the two extreme lanes of the four-lane carriageway, connects the U Trati Street with the Mikulášská Avenue and serves the integrated building. These one-way ramps are accompanied with the public transport (chiefly trolleybus) stopping lanes serving also suburban bus transport, forming part of the transport service of the ring road in direct connection with important pedestrian routes heading towards city centre.
The bridge across the Radbuza is a R.C. arch structure spanning 65 m and rising 9 m above water level. Its overall length is 134.5 m long. Its inner rising ramps are connected with the viaduct above the integrated building by a transition section 71 m long. The superstructures is not merely a bridge, forming also the "roof" of the integrated building, designed as a continuous prestressed concrete segment structure with cast-in-place seven span slab. The length of the superstructure is 291.65 m.
Simultaneously also a steel footbridge for pedestrian and bicycle traffic across the river was erected, connecting the principal pedestrian and cycling routes with the embankment. The footbridge spans 82 m.
