A single family house with a studio in Prague-Kobylisy was built on a plot with a steep southern slope and south-west orientation.
The concept of the development of the 850 m2 plot is based on the simplicity and comprehensibility of the site, and all housing-related functions. The building is positioned in such a way so as to preserve as much as possible the natural state of the south-west section adjoining a sandstone rock bench.
The building, consisting of two above-grade floors with a cantilever terrace and a small pool, is supported by the sunk-in recessed floor. The house is augmented with a free-standing wall delineating the communication hall enclosed with vision panels. The platform roof can be accessed through a hopper light. The lay-out was governed by the multifunctional use of the house - a studio combined with housing. Each operation has a separate staircase and entrance. The semi basement serves as a studio with a kitchenette and amenities, and further houses the garage and the utility room. The ground floor is occupied by the main entrance hall, living room opening onto the terrace, kitchen and dining room, chore room and a study. Bedrooms, two children's rooms, bathrooms and dressing rooms are located on the first floor.
The construction consists of thermoblock walls, monolithic ceilings, fair-faced concrete and steel zinc-coated girders. Materials used include Cembonit boards, natural Corten sheets, and clear glass in satin anodized aluminum frames.
