The Z-shaped ground plan of the building is intended, similarly to the graphic symbol of the Yin and Yang, to separate yet interconnect various types of space. On one hand, the building is defined by the urban space of a small square; on the other hand, it transforms the amorphous space of a former inner block into a relaxation garden.
The building, which includes a social service facility, low-cost housing, as well as commercial space and apartments, consists of three programmatically different wings. The ground floor of the central wing caters to various social functions - it contains the entrance hall, a dining room/clubroom and related amenities. The space can be segmented as required and serves as a social center of the building. The ground floor of the south wing is occupied by medical offices and apartments for tenants with reduced mobility. The north wing houses offices, service facilities and commercial space for rent. Staircases and elevators are located between the wings. There is a total of 83 smaller apartments on three storeys, specifically 1+kk (bed-sitter with a kitchenette) and 2+kk (two rooms and a kitchenette) ranging from 32 m2 to 47 m2, and 1+kk+loggia (44+6.8 m2). The attic accommodates 12 apartments ranging from 2+kk to 4+1 (four rooms and a kitchen) ranging from 43 m2 to 165 m2.
The overall architectural composition is centered around a small public square with centrally planted trees - a tree casting the perfect shade, an established attribute and virtually a symbol of open air social spaces. The slope of the roof of the building is also dictated by the orientation of the composition towards the center of the square.
